I'm running for School Board to ensure that every child has access to quality public education and all the opportunities it provides.

I am running for the school board because I believe that every child deserves a quality public education – and that means more than just reading, writing, and math.
Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, everyone looked and thought the same, and almost every child in town went to the same school. We didn’t have many AP classes, and opportunities were scarce.
I was the first person in my family to go to college, and the education I received altered the course of my life. As a student, education widened my world and taught me to think for myself. It taught me how to be self-sufficient and resourceful and how important diversity is. As a mom of school-aged children, I see the opportunities public education provides. And as an educator of 18 years, it has helped me bring people together across communities. Being an educator opened my eyes to the opportunities for growth and change that exist in CMS, but also to the incredible things that are happening throughout our schools.
A strong public education system opens the doors of opportunity. As educators, our job is to lift up our students and help them find a path to success.
Every child deserves that chance, and it’s up to us to make sure they have it.
